Chris Potash - lands college gigBy GEORGE O'GORMAN (Trentonian) Staff Writer Chris Potash’s climb up the basketball
coaching ladder has taken another step. Potash, a former Notre Dame High basketball standout with extensive coaching experience
at the high school and college level, has been named the new head coach at Penn State Abington, one of the branch campuses
of Penn State University. Potash had been assistant basketball coach at the University of the Sciences in Philadelphia the
past two years, and prior to that coached at Robbinsville High, Princeton Day School and The Peddie School where he led the
Falcons to the N.J. Prep ‘A’ state championship game in 2004. Twice named N.J. Prep School Coach of the Year,
Potash enjoyed tremendous success at Peddie where he was named Prep Coach of the Year by The Trentonian in the 2003-04 season.
The season before he coached All-Area and All-State star Ibrahim Jaaber, who went on to earn Ivy League Player of the Year
acclaim at Penn and played professionally in Europe. “Chris emerged as the leading candidate from a highly competitive
pool of nearly 100 applications. He brings the right blend of coaching success, recruiting acumen and work ethic to our program,”
Penn State-Abington Director of Athletics Dr. Karen Weaver said about Potash’s hire. “We are pleased to have him
join our growing athletics program.”
